The Five Links EstateThe 5 Links Estate is located in Laindon, which is approximately 2 miles west of Basildon Town Centre. The estate currently comprises approximately 1400 homes in a mix of houses, maisonettes, flats and three shop units.
 
The Aims of the Five Links Regeneration Program include:
  • Improving housing quality.
  • Raising educational attainment, training and help for young people.
  • Reducing crime, and the general enhancement of quality of life for residents.
 
Great News - Crime Figures Are Down
The community police team have advised us that following the introduction of a new countrywide policing programme, which will consist of dedicated neighbourhood teams including a sergeant, police officers, PCSO’s (Police community support officers) and specials. There has been more visible policing on Five Links, i.e. foot and cycle patrols and crime figures are reducing.

The police are looking at the possibility of holding surgeries where residents can visit them and discuss any issues confidentially without attending the police station. They are currently looking for suitable venues.
 
Redevelopment Update
As you are aware, works are speeding ahead with the properties on Somercotes.

Due to the future temporary closure of parts of Somercotes, to enable reconstruction of the new road and footpaths it has been necessary to open the top of Tyler Avenue to allow road traffic to gain access to the top end of Somercotes. The work to the road is expected to commence mid June and be completed by the end of September.
